What is Motor Neuron Disease?

It is a progressive, invariably fatal, neurological disease that attacks the nerve cells(neurons) responsible for the controlling voluntary muscles.

Global Awareness is on the 21 June every year and is celebrated world wide.

Our Aim

The Motor Neuron Disease Association aims to provide and promote the best possible support for people living with MND, by means of:
Home Counselling
General Care
Support Groups
Loaning of necessary equipment

Established in 1990

The MNDA was established in the 1990’s to support those suffering from motor neurone disease.

They had experienced the fantastic backup support system available in Canada & UK, and decided to form a Committee to help those in the Western Cape, which is where they all lived. The Association well established with the head office in Pinelands, consultants / advisors in Western Cape, Gauteng, KZN. The MNDA is a voluntary organization and its main concern is the welfare of the MND sufferer.

We are fortunate to have Dr Henning a well known neurologist as our chairman.
